How do you keep carpets clean after they've been professionally cleaned?
Ahhhh....fresh clean carpets.
Sometimes when you get your carpets professionally cleaned, it can feel like you've moved into a brand new home.
Especially if they needed cleaning for awhile.
Or because one of your kids threw a party while you were away...
And things got - er shall we say - a wee bit out of hand (and into your carpets).
Either way, the mess that once graced your carpets with it's awful presence...
Has now completely disappeared like every Blockbuster video store on the planet.
So how do you keep carpets clean (other than grounding your party animal kid for life)?
Easy.
Here are 5 super not-so-secret tips to keep carpets clean and looking spectacular.
1) Red Light Green Light
Remember the game "Red Light Green Light"?
No not the Squid Game version.
That's only going to make you call me to clean your carpets again ...
... and I'd have to charge extra to get all that red out.
I mean the kid version where red light means you cannot walk.
And green light means you can.
Well until the carpet is dry - consider that red light.
When it's dry - go ahead and walk all over it.
Heck, since we're talking children's games here...
You might want to roll around on the clean carpet.
You know you want to.
Go ahead!
Be a kid again, your spouse is out of the house so they can't judge you.
2) Lose The Shoes But Rock The Socks
Well, well, well.
It turns out that not only is walking on clean carpets with street shoes is a bad idea...
So are nekkid feet.
Almost as bad an idea as giving 7 toddlers expresso coffee when you're nursing a migraine the size of San Francisco.
The reason is that the natural oils in your skin can leave oily residue behind.
And oil, much like Pig Pen from Charlie Brown, attracts a lot of dirt.
So instead of going barefoot, it's better to rock some socks or at least some slippers you only ever wear indoors.
3) It's Now Or Never
Life is messy.
And unfortunately, most of it lands on the floor.
And if it's one of those messes that are wet or sticky you're going to have to clean it up right away.
Especially if it landed on the carpet.
Because the longer you leave it on, the harder it is going to be to get it out...
And the more you're going to have to learn to love that ugly looking piece of artwork on your floor.

It's time to do the Blot.
Not the rub. Not the smear.
The "Blot".
Blotting soaks up the spill, whereas rubbing causes it to soak into carpet fibers.

You'll never see the dust, dirt and hair that lands on it everyday.
So even though your carpets *may* look clean...
Believe me, they're begging you to vacuum them regularly.
From the carpet's point of view point of view, massaging it's back with a vacuum everyday would be great.
For you - not so much.
So shoot for at least once a week.
And if you can swing it...
Maybe bribe, coerce or threaten to cancel Christmas of an offspring to get them to use your portable sucking machine over the high traffic areas twice a week.
The more you can suck up the dirt - the less often you'll need to call me.
